In 1952 Leroy J. 'Bud' Richardson and his wife Ann founded the Richardson Funeral Home in the Olney section of Philadelphia, Through hard work and dedicated services to others they established one of Northeast Philadelphia's premiere funeral homes. In 1962, they purchased the current location at 7450 Oxford Avenue, (at Verree Road) in the Burholme/ Fox Chase section of the city, at that time a 4-unit apartment building. Six years later, in 1968, after extensive renovation, the funeral home opened and continues to operate from this location.

It was the goal of Ann & Bud Richardson to serve families to the fullest extent of their abilities, and to impart warmth, empathy, sympathy and trust to each family they served. They built respectful business relationships within the community and forged many life long friendships.

Today the Richardson Funeral Home is owned and managed by their youngest son, David. Continuing in the traditions of his parents, David G. Richardson, continues to serve families throughout the Delaware Valley. They have expanded services to include aftercare, funeral preplanning insurance, prepaid funerals, cemetery memorials, floral services and unique memorial programs, continuing to improve on the foundations of service set forth by the founders, Ann and Bud Richardson.

The Richardson Family and staff follow the simple guidelines of the originators. "One Family Helping Another"
